Tahuna Normal Intermediate pupils (from left) Freda Kawharu-Tasell (12), Katherine Osborn (12) and Maraea Brooking-Browne (11), pictured in Norfolk St, St Clair, said one of the best things about last night's Halloween trick or treat visits to houses was the fun of being with friends from the same year 7 class at school.

Despite the cool evening weather, Freda said she had enjoyed "hanging with my friends" and Katherine said, "I just can't stop smiling".

After visiting what they estimated to be more than 20 houses, the trio had gained a good supply of sweets, including several small chocolate bars.

Freda, who was enjoying her first trick or treat experience, hoped to eat many of the sweets over the next couple of days.

Her two friends said they would take a bit longer, and also leave something sweet for next Halloween.
