Drugs found in warrant inquiry

Dunedin police stumbled on a haul of illegal substances after spotting drugs while visiting a Maryhill property.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police went to a property in Leckhampton Court, Maryhill, at 5.30pm on Tuesday to make inquiries about a man with a warrant out for his arrest.

When they arrived, officers spotted the 28-year-old man they were searching for, as well as a 36-year-old man who also had a warrant out for his arrest.

While officers were at the property, they saw drugs inside the address and invoked a warrantless search.

They located 22.3g of cannabis, 1g of meth, more than 34g of Xanax, more than 16g of MDMA, pills laced with MDMA, a meth pipe and a cannabis bong.

The 28-year-old was arrested and charged with supplying and dealing cannabis, possession of a utensil for cannabis, possession for supply of ecstasy, possession of prohibited equipment, possession of methamphetamine and amphetamine, possession of utensils for methamphetamine and two charges of failure to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search.
