A 21-year-old Dunedin man was killed in a single-car crash on the Clinton-Mataura highway yesterday.
Detective Sergeant Cynthia Fairley, of Gore, said the crash happened about 10.10am on State Highway 93, about 9km north of Mataura.
The man, the sole occupant of a Nissan Terrano 4WD, was travelling from Dunedin to Mataura when the vehicle hit a concrete power pole after rounding a moderate bend.
No other vehicles were involved.
The road was wet, she said.
The highway was reduced to one lane for about four hours, while electricity lines were repaired.
The man's name would be released today.
