The Silverpeaks Country Music Club runs an annual hoedown on the Otago anniversary weekend.
The festival involved three days of music and dancing at the Taieri Bowling Club.
Mr Fraser said the festival had been "a lot of fun".
"There was a lot of good people, and they all go along because they enjoy the music."
Mr Fraser had been a member of the club for about seven years and had attended about "half a dozen" annual hoedowns.
People travelled from as far as Nelson to attend the event, many of them in campervans.
Mr Fraser said there were "a lot of good performances", but he especially enjoyed artists Melissa Partridge and Nicholas Bourke.
