Fire in central Dunedin

Six fire appliances rushed to a central Dunedin building after a heat pump started a small fire.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said at 10.10am it was called to the fire on Moray Pl, with an aerial appliance dispatched due to the height of the building involved.

Four appliances from St Kilda, Willowbank, Roslyn and Dunedin Central as well as the aerial unit and a command unit attended.

Most appliances were turned around soon after they arrived, he said.

The fire was not substantial and was put out quickly, with the job closed thirty minutes after the first call, he said.
