Flight to Chch pulled

An Air New Zealand flight was cancelled in Dunedin yesterday after what was described as an air conditioning problem.

An Air NZ spokeswoman said flight NZ5054, scheduled to leave Dunedin for Christchurch at 2pm yesterday, was cancelled because of an engineering issue.

The 65 passengers on the flight were accommodated on other services, she said.

A passenger, who did not want to be named, said the safety briefing was given before passengers were told of a problem with the air conditioning system.

After disembarking, the passenger joined a long queue to rebook flights.

The passenger secured an 8pm flight, but many others in the queue were concerned about missing connections to international flights, she said.
