Jon Bakos helps clean St Kilda Beach yesterday as part of Our Seas Our Future coastal clean-up for World Oceans Day.
Mr Bakos was part of a team of about 20 who searched the beach and dunes for rubbish.
He found mostly plastic bottles and fast food wrappers.
''There's a surprising amount to pick out,'' he said.
OSOF spokesman Noel Jhinku said another group targeted the cycleway by the harbour mouth.
All up, about 400 litres of rubbish was picked up.
''It was a great day.''
