Otago regional councillor Marian Hobbs spoke at Market Reserve, on the corner of Princes St and Manor Pl, yesterday, at a ceremony to mark International Workers Memorial Day.

Crosses placed in the reserve represented people who went to work but did not come home again.

Union representatives, families of those who had died and members of the wider community gather at the reserve for a remembrance ceremony each year on April 28.
