Hoops of fun

Despite changeable spring weather, young holiday-makers Caleb (9) and Olivia (7) Scott, of Auckland, took their first dip at the St Clair Salt Water Pool on Saturday.

Their grandmother, Helen Crossan, of Dunedin, said the visiting youngsters enjoyed their early season trip to the pool.

To celebrate the reopening of the pool, about 150 sausages were provided at a free barbecue on Saturday, Dunedin City Council aquatics manager Nicola Jukes said.

The weather had been variable, and conditions were cold by 2pm on Saturday, but earlier visitors were "really pleased to be here".

Attendance had been steady since the pool reopened last Tuesday, in a "good start" to the new season, Ms Jukes said.
