A delegation of 21 pupils from Suankularb Wittayalai School in Bangkok, Thailand, celebrate their arrival at Kavanagh College yesterday.

It is the first time Kavanagh College has welcomed a delegation (which includes three teachers) from the prestigious boys’ secondary school.

They will be at the Dunedin school for the next three weeks.

Kavanagh College international director Vicki Cullen said it was the school holidays in Thailand  and the years 9 and 10 boys were at Kavanagh to improve their English and learn about New Zealand.

"Three teachers from the school are also here — two are English teachers and one is a maths teacher.

"They are here to do some professional development with our teachers and do some classroom observation to see how we teach."

Ms Cullen said Kavanagh College and Suankularb Wittayalai School were in the process of becoming sister schools.

She visited Suankularb Wittayalai School earlier this year to help arrange the tour, but said there were no plans at this stage for Kavanagh pupils to go to Bangkok.
