At least 30 people are still to be interviewed by police as the investigation into the death of student Sophia Crestani continues.

The 19-year-old died after reportedly being crushed as people tried to leave a crowded party at Dundas Street flat The Manor last Saturday night.

Otago Coastal area prevention manager Inspector Wil Black said police would be interviewing people over the weekend, and they were still keen to hear from anyone else who was at the party.

One of the details they were trying to confirm was how many people were at the party.

"We're still trying to nail down the details, but there were definitely hundreds there," he said.

Reports from witnesses have ranged from 200 through to 600.
