Man breaks into cars with rock

Police are on the hunt for a man in relation to two cars being smashed with a rock in South Rd yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Liz Waru, of Dunedin, said police were informed a man was trying to break into a car with a rock about 2pm.

It appeared two cars had been broken in to when police arrived but it was unclear whether anything was taken, she said.

"He ran off towards [The Kensington] Tui Clubrooms," Snr Sgt Waru said.

"We have spoken to our informant but if anyone else has any information about who it might be, it would be appreciated."

The man is described as a Caucasian in his 40s, between 172cm and 177cm tall, of slim build and wearing a cap.
