Mother and daughter Sue Black, of Milton, and Rosanne Dee, of Mosgiel, sell Christmas presents at their stall at the annual Mosgiel Christmas Market Day on Saturday.

This year's annual Mosgiel Christmas Market Day has been hailed as a success with over 1000 people enjoying the shopping and entertainment on offer.

Mosgiel's main street, Gordon Rd, was closed for the event as people of all ages perused the products and food on offer at various stalls, with a lot of candyfloss and sausages consumed.

Mosgiel Business Association committee member Kristy Compton said a torrential downpour ruined last year's market. They were happy with the way Saturday went.

The worst of the inclement weather held off and the association was pleased with the turnout, which she put at over 1000.

There had also been good feedback from retailers.

After some doubt earlier in the year over whether the market would continue, its future was now secure, she said.
