The Dunedin City Council acting parks and recreation group manager Scott MacLean said the project’s first steps would be fencing the Memorial Park site and demolition of the old pool.

A blessing was held yesterday morning and from this morning the contractor, Cook Brothers, would start the fencing.

During construction, pedestrian access would still be available between Gordon Rd and Memorial Park, but the main access to the playing fields would be from Reid Ave and the Memorial Park car park opposite Tyne St.

A community noticeboard would be provided on the fencing to update progress.

Another noticeboard will be put up in the Mosgiel Library.

Work continued on finalising the design of the Gordon Rd-Eden St intersection work required for the new pool entrance, Mr MacLean said.

The new pool is scheduled to be open by late 2022.
