Vintage cars and classic hits was the theme at the Music in the Park event at Aramoana Domain yesterday.

Compere Len McStay said 30 musicians aged between 9 and their late 70s travelled from as far as Timaru and Owaka to perform.

A rendition of Bonnie Tyler's It's a Heartache by Kim Anderson-Robb, of Dunedin, got the crowd dancing.

As the line dancers synchronised, members of the Vintage Austin Register enjoyed the sunshine near their vintage and classic English cars.

Register member Bruce Bush, of Dunedin, said he had brought his 1924 Austin to the event to enjoy the company of good people while listening to good music: ''It doesn't get much better than this.''
