A car carrying a family of refugees from Syria collided with another vehicle driven by a young man in South Dunedin yesterday.

St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said one person was taken to Dunedin Hospital with moderate injuries.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called at 3.40pm to Macandrew Rd, near Thomas St.

The car driven by the refugee family was leaving a car park near Veggie Boys when it was in collision with a Subaru driven by a young man.
