Outram Cavalcade committee member Jan Hannah said the committee had planned the cavalcade weekend for the past 14 months and was ready to go.
''Bring it on.''
The two-course dinner on Saturday night for at least 350 cavalcaders and 50 volunteers would include ham on the bone and prime lamb.
On Sunday, about 150 people were expected for a cooked breakfast.
''It's a very busy weekend for us.''
Tickets for both meals were on sale until lunchtime tomorrow.
Any surplus money raised from the event would be divided between community groups depending on the volunteer hours worked, Mrs Hannah said.
The hours would be added up, and any surplus money would be divided by the hours worked.
The volunteers had nominated an Outram community group, such as a school, play centre or rodeo club, to benefit from their work.
''Everybody's hours have the same dollar value, which means the whole community benefits,'' she said.
Committee member Nigel Hodge said between 800 and 1000 volunteers would have worked more than 3000 hours by the time the event ended.
''The support from the community and local businesses has been fantastic.''
To host the event cost between $50,000 and $70,000 and Mr Hodge hoped that up to 10,000 people would be at the family-friendly occasion.
Free parking was available for about 2000 vehicles at the rodeo grounds near the country fair, he said.
Committee member Darryl MacKenzie said he was managing the country fair on Saturday, which included a 25m waterslide.
''Kids, bring your togs.''
Entertainment included an inflatable slide, bouncy castles, jeeps, a trail bike display, performances by Silverpeaks Country Music Club, a magic act, free face painting, pony rides, a digger simulator, mechanical bull, a chocolate wheel and about 60 craft and food stalls.
The Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter and a Cobb and Co stagecoach would be on display.
The parade from noon would travel on Outram's main roads and motorists should avoid the centre of town at that time for about 30 minutes.
Committee member Ash Barron pitched the 16m by 40m marquee at West Taieri rugby grounds on Sunday with help from some of the club senior players.
The hoedown on Saturday night would be held in the marquee.
''The hoedown is designed to suit the cavalcaders and the general public, so we are encouraging everyone to partake in the festivities,'' Mr Barron said.
