The face of a man pressed against the window of a student flat, prompted a call to Dunedin police on Thursday night, just hours after another man was spotted acting suspiciously.
Acting Senior Sergeant Tania Baron said the female student was on her way to the toilet at her Ethel Benjamin Pl flat shortly before midnight, when she saw the man at the window.
Although the man fled the scene, he was observed by a Campus Watch member, who took down his vehicle registration details.
"They have done a great job," Acting Snr Sgt Baron said.
Inquiries into the matter were continuing, she said.
Police were also trying to locate a "suspicious man" who fled another student flat earlier that night.
The man fled the Anzac Ave flat, after he was spotted loitering around it just after 8.30pm.
He was seen getting into a car and residents were able to supply a registration number Inquiries were continuing.
