Piano Specialists owner Jim Strang (left) and piano restorer, technician and Chills bassist James Dickson are looking forward to celebrating the reopening of the South Dunedin business after a ceiling fire last month.

The piano restoration, tuning and sales business is reopening on Monday after the September 7 fire, which was ''mainly smoke'', forced the closure of the King Edward St store.

None of the stock was damaged but it had been ''totally cleaned, checked and re-tuned'', Mr Strang said.

''Sometime, years ago, a nail had been put in the ceiling near an electrical wire and a hot spot developed [which caused the fire].''
