About 40 jobs are expected to be created with the expansion of Domino's Pizza in the Dunedin area.
The fast-food chain yesterday announced work on its Mosgiel store will begin this week and more jobs will be added to its two existing stores.
Domino's Pizza New Zealand general manager Scott Bush said its North Dunedin franchisee, Greg Riach, would take the reins of the Mosgiel store.
Resource consent had been gained for the Gordon Rd site and work could begin immediately, Mr Bush said.
About 20 staff were expected to be hired and the store was expected to open by early July at the latest.
Increasing sales would require a further 20 staff for the Dunedin North and Dunedin South stores, he said.
The recruiting process for Mosgiel was expected to begin in mid-June.
''Resource consent is all done. We are good to go,'' he said.
It was an ''exciting opportunity'' for the town, he said.
Mr Riach, who lives in Mosgiel, has operated the Dunedin North store for about five years. He also owns the largest fleet of Domino's branded cars in New Zealand.
