After the firework burnt out, Lily fist-pumped the air and yelled, ''Awesome.''
Her mother, Rachel Hilton, of Dunedin, said it was the first Guy Fawkes at which Lily had been old enough to safely hold a lit sparkler.
The family had bought a box of fireworks to set off at a family barbecue. Lily said her favourite fireworks burnt pink and purple.
