A teacher who resigned from King's High School after having a sexual relationship with a pupil has given an undertaking not to teach ahead of a disciplinary hearing.
The female teacher, who the Otago Daily Times has decided not to name, resigned earlier this month after images circulated on social media showing her in bed with a different former pupil.
Education Council spokeswoman Fiona Mayo said the case had been referred to its disciplinary tribunal, which would hold a hearing on the matter.
The council "moved quickly'' after receiving a "mandatory report'' about the allegations from King's on February 9.
The following day, the council got a voluntary undertaking from the woman not to teach while the issue was being dealt with.
After an investigation, it was decided the woman had a case to answer, which meant the allegations would be dealt with by way of a disciplinary tribunal hearing.
No further allegations had come to light since King's made contact on February 9.
A date for the hearing had not yet been set, as the council was still working with the parties involved to find a suitable time.
Actions the disciplinary tribunal could take range from imposing conditions, such as requiring a teacher be supervised, to striking a teacher off the register.
