Police are reminding Dunedin drivers to be mindful of winter hazards after a trampoline blew on to a Brockville road during the winter storm at the weekend.

While the wayward trampoline was not known to cause any crashes, the icy conditions and blowing snow contributed to about 11 crashes in and around the city in the 24 hours from 8.30am on Sunday to yesterday morning, police said.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police did not attend all the weather-related crashes as snow descended to sea level in Dunedin at the weekend.

However, no injuries caused by the poor driving conditions in the storm had been reported.

Police were called to Brockville about 2am yesterday after reports of a trampoline in the road, Snr Sgt Bond said.

"It was located, and moved off the road," he said.

Snr Sgt Bond said the incident served as a reminder to secure household items "such as trampolines", but it was also a reminder for drivers to be take care in wintry conditions and to be alert to the hazards that could result.
