Three people who fled after a car crash in Dunedin are yet to be located, police say.
Senior Sergeant Ian Temple, of Dunedin, said a "beat-up, old'' BMW crashed into a building in Kaikorai Valley Rd about 10.50pm on Wednesday and three people "decamped''.
One of the occupants possibly had a significant head wound, he said.
Hospital checks had not shown any sign of the people and the vehicle had not been reported stolen, Snr Sgt Temple said.
Department of Conservation Coastal Otago services manager Annie Wallace said a rented building Doc used to store equipment was damaged in the crash.
The driver of the car also "took out'' a lamp post and hit a Delta box, Ms Wallace said.
Anyone with any information about the crash or the whereabouts of the people involved was asked to contact Dunedin police on (03) 471-4800 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
