Police seek three people over Princes St stabbing

Police are seeking three people in relation to a recent stabbing in Dunedin.

A 21-year-old man was stabbed in the neck and back outside the The Bottle-O store on the corner of Princes St and Moray Pl on May 1.

After reviewing CCTV footage, police said yesterday they wanted to identify a "solid'' woman of Maori or Polynesian descent and a smaller woman of Maori or Polynesian descent.

They were also looking for a man, aged 30 to 40, who was wearing a black or brown leather jacket and could have been with one of the women.

The stabbing might have be related to an earlier incident inside a nightclub.

The victim was recovering and should not suffer any lasting effects from the attack, the statement said.

A police spokeswoman said police believed the nightclub incident was a "confrontation''.

"But we don't know who was involved.''

Police would not reveal the name of the nightclub.

The weapon used to stab the man had not been identified, the spokeswoman said.

Dunedin police (03) 471-4800, Crimestoppers 0800 555-111.
