Police warn visitors over passports

Police are reminding visitors to carry copies of their passport information with them, after several people reported their passports lost in Dunedin over the weekend.

Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said without a copy of passport details, it was more difficult for visitors to get replacement documents.

"We'd say people should have a copy with them stored separate to their passport, in case they lose it, or it's stolen."

• A 17-year-old Dunedin youth was arrested and his licence automatically suspended after he was caught drink-driving at the weekend, police said.

Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said the teenager was pulled over in Kereru Close, in Helensburgh, at 4am on Sunday and his breath-alcohol level was 400mcg. The legal limit for someone aged under 20 is zero.

• A window of the New Satay Noodle House, in Hanover St, was smashed and the till stolen on Saturday night.
