Teen boys face charges after North Dunedin robberies

Two teenagers have been arrested following a spate of robberies in the Dunedin campus area.

The two boys, aged 14 and 16, appeared in the Dunedin Youth Court yesterday, acting Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson said.

The pair are facing four charges, including at least one of aggravated robbery.

They were remanded in custody following the appearance, acting Snr Sgt Thomson said.

The pair were linked to four incidents over the course of last week.

"There were two young boys ... going around the varsity area demanding property off people.''

They were arrested following a robbery on Saturday night.

"It's an aggravated robbery because there were two of them involved and an assault took place and property stolen,'' acting Snr Sgt Thomson said.

While the pair were linked to four incidents at present, there was "an inquiry to find out how many more they have done''.

"They will in due course go to a family conference to be dealt with,'' he said.

All the incidents were unprovoked.

Anyone with information should contact Dunedin police on (03) 471-4800.
