It has taken a lot of holding on, more than six years in fact, but Ocean View has finally received funding for a public toilet.
After battling for years, the Saddle Hill Community Board was told yesterday a public toilet in the area had been identified as a "top priority" by the Dunedin City Council.
Board chairman Keith McFadyen described it as a "really good outcome".
"Being number one priority is fantastic."
Consultation would now begin with the community over a proposed site.
Mr McFadyen believed two areas would be suitable, at the north end of the Ocean View reserve and at Taylors Creek.
Deputy chairman Scott Weatherall said demand for a public toilet and waste disposal site had increased in recent years due to the number of camper vans, tourists and freedom campers visiting the area.
