Little Red Riding Hood proved to be a popular choice at Otago Girls' High School's annual library day, but Disney's Ariel, a lion, a witch and even a wardrobe also featured.
The school yesterday celebrated its 77th library day and the pupils dressed in fairy-tale costumes.
Pupils brought gold coin donations to put towards the $2500 worth of new books for the school library.
Library prefect Claire Hudson, who led part of the annual assembly, said it was ''a brilliant way to get everyone involved in the library''.
In true fairy-tale style, the school's prefects performed a musical medley skit at the assembly.
School librarian Jane Somerfield said the excited pupils began planning their costumes months in advance.
A highlight for all involved was seeing teachers, including senior staff, donning dressing gowns, wigs and pink pig onesies.
The PTSA also donated $1500 towards books for the library.
