Three shops are set to join a proposed early learning centre on the site of the former Commercial Tavern.
Plans for a two-storey block with three shops on the ground floor and office space above were revealed in a resource consent released by the Dunedin City Council in November.
News of a Rainbow Corner Early Learning Centre coming to the site was announced in January 2020.
A subdivision consent was granted last month to split the land into two lots.
The largest of the two lots was 2307sq m and would house the child-care facility, while the smaller would measure 890sq m and house the shopping complex.
A land use consent has also been granted for the retail and office complex.
Plans show 33 car parks, including staff parks, on the site.
The Commercial Tavern’s lease ended in August 2020, and so ended a period of about 150 years of having a pub in that location.
