Sunstrike could be to blame for a woman sustaining minor injuries in a car crash in Dunedin yesterday, police say.

St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said an ambulance was deployed to the crash in Barr St, Kenmure, just before 9am.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the Dunedin Hospital emergency department.

A police spokeswoman said a car had collided with a parked car at the top of the street.

Sunstrike was possibly a factor in the crash, she said.

Motorists could try to avoid sunstrike by using their sun visors and keeping windscreens clean inside and out, she said.

"If you do experience sunstrike, pull over for a few minutes until it dissipates," she said.
