The winner of the Otago Daily Times Magic Moments 2018 photography competition has been announced.
Sawyers Bay resident Adelle O’Neill’s photo of her daughter Hannah (11) "eating" her younger sister Josie (10) on a beach in the Able Tasman National Park caught the judges’ eye.
Mrs O’Neill said Hannah was the brains behind the photo.
"She’s entered in previous years and really wanted to win this year so she came up with a few ideas and I think she got the inspiration from Pinterest."
Making sure all the dimensions lined up correctly took a bit of work, she said.
"It took us a while to make sure everything looked right but the girls did all of the work. I just clicked the button."

For their creativeness the family have won a Nikon 360 KeyMission Action Camera.
The runner-up prizes went to Melissa Purnell for her photo of Emily Aubin swimming in the Naseby swimming dam and Beth Anderson for her photo of her friends on the shores of Lake Wanaka reflected in a sunglass lens.
Both win an A3 Realphoto full canvas image of their photos.
Overall, 482 entries were received, from which 132 were published, each winning a free enlargement from Jonathan’s Photo Warehouse and joining the shortlist for the overall prizes.
