Scare for surfers at Smaills

Emergency services converged on Smaills Beach in Dunedin today after reports of two surfers getting into trouble in the ocean.

A police spokesman said both surfers made it back to the beach safely in the noon incident.

"Police attended and confirmed that no further assistance was required."

Ambulance crews also attended.
