Ms van Leeuwen has owned her preloved clothing store, Collectibles, on Moray Pl for 20 years and decided only two weeks ago to buy a small store in Musselburgh Rise, near where she lives.
"I was lying in the bath and this thought came to my head. I had to leap out of the bath and ring my friend."
A few days later, the lease for 57 Musselburgh Rise had been signed and just a week or so after that the shop had been fitted out by her husband and was ready to open. It opened on Wednesday, on the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Moray Pl store.
Ms van Leeuwen said since the country had hit hard economic times, more people were wanting to sell clothes they did not wear and more were wanting to buy cheaper designer clothing.
The store will be run by two friends of Ms van Leeuwen, both of whom had been looking for new jobs.
