Student Sophie Elliott (22), who was found dead in her Ravensbourne bedroom on January 9, had been stabbed 216 times with a sharp object and suffered seven blunt force traumas, the Dunedin District Court has been told.
The Dunedin District Court is hearing the first day of depositions for murder accused Clayton Robert Weatherston (32).
Weatherston is alleged to have killed Sophie Kate Elliott in her parents' Ravensbourne home on January 9.
The court heard Miss Elliott was stabbed 216 times with a sharp object and suffered seven blunt force traumas.
Sophie's mother Lesley is currently giving evidence for the crown.
Weatherston is represented by Judith Ablett-Kerr QC.
