Spate of vehicle thefts

Police recover a stolen car from the Blackhead carpark yesterday morning, where it was found crashed into a barrier with the engine running.

A police spokesman said four vehicles had been reported stolen over the weekend and two had been recovered.

One was found burnt out and a 32-year-old man was due to appear in the Dunedin District Court today, charged with unlawfully taking a vehicle and driving while disqualified.

Further charges had not been ruled out and inquiries into the remaining vehicles were ongoing, the spokesman said.
