Rolls-Royce representatives (from left) South and East Asia Pacific general manager Dan Balmer, Team McMillan director Bob McMillan, of Auckland, and Asia Pacific regional director Paul Harris visit Dunedin yesterday with a Phantom Series II, imported just a month ago.

The trio, along with brand manager Neil D'Arcy-Brain, are on a national tour to meet customers and build relationships with prospective clients.

''They do not always have time to come to us, or live close to the showrooms, so we make the time to come and see them,'' Mr Balmer said yesterday.

Their customers were not of a type, except for their interest in luxury cars and the means to buy one, he said.

Fuel consumption was low on the list of a Rolls-Royce customer's concerns.

Some bought them to achieve a personal goal, while others were collectors.

''Some are tired of the world economic situation and decide they can afford the car, so why not,'' Mr Balmer said yesterday.

Last night 25 people with an interest in the brand attended a dinner at the Dunedin Club.
