Tickets to the British pop-maker’s third Forsyth Barr Stadium concert went on sale at 1pm yesterday.
The concert has not attracted the same level of interest as his first two shows, which sold out in minutes.
Close to 80,000 fans were already set to attend Sheeran’s March 29 and 31 concerts when Frontier announced a third show, for April 1, last week.
Sheeran is expected to break touring records when he touches down in Australia and New Zealand next year for an 18-show, seven-city tour.
A Frontier Touring spokeswoman said promoters did not expect the final Dunedin show to sell out in the first day.
Last night it appeared $69 allocated seats were sold out, but tickets in all sections of the stadium were available.
Attempts to contact promoters about ticket sales for the third show were unsuccessful yesterday.A post on Frontier Touring’s Facebook page yesterday said: "WOW! Ed Sheeran’s 4th + final Melbourne show is officially sold out.
"Very limited number of tickets left to the 3rd + final Dunedin show."
Dunedin Venues marketing and communications manager Kim Barnes said more than a dozen hardy souls had braved yesterday’s cold and drizzly conditions to secure tickets at the stadium’s ticket booth at 1pm.
