Students win praise from police

Police have praised student behaviour after a good start to Orientation Week.

Sergeant Blair Dalton, of Dunedin, said there had been no issues at a series of well-run events in the city, including at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

"It's been very, very good. Everything has been run really well,'' he said.

A fire crew was called to a couch fire in North Dunedin about 2.25am this morning, but it was quickly extinguished.

Police drove by but did not attend the call.
