Talks to mark Brain Day

University of Otago researchers Dr Liana Machado, Dr Graeme Hammond-Tooke, Dr Andrew Clarkson and Dr Louise Parr-Brownlie, will give free public talks at the university's Castle St lecture theatre complex tomorrow to mark national Brain Day.

Dr Machado will discuss age-related challenges to "visual orienting" at 11am, followed by Dr Hammond-Tooke on stimulating the brain with electricity, at 12.15pm, and Dr Clarkson on brain repair after stroke, at 1.30pm.

Dr Parr-Brownlie will also shed light on Parkinson's Disease, at 2.45pm.

The Dunedin event was being supported by the Neurological Foundation of New Zealand and hosted by the Otago University Brain Health Research Centre, as part of a major international effort to "communicate the wonders and achievements of brain research", organisers said.
