Workers inspect several conduit pipes damaged during construction of a cycleway in Cumberland St, near the intersection with Stuart St.

The conduits were damaged during construction of part of the NZ Transport Agency's (NZTA) Dunedin one-way system separated cycle lane project on State Highway 1 through central Dunedin.

An NZTA spokesman would not be drawn on how the conduits were damaged, but said it was a ''very minor incident'', which would not delay completion of the cycleway.

The conduits carry cables linking traffic signal displays to a controller. Photo: Christine O'Connor
