Dunedin police have arrested a 56-year-old man and a 57-year-old man on firearms charges in relation to a burglary on October 25 in which firearms and ammunition were stolen.
Both men have been charged with unlawful possession of a pistol, three charges of unlawful possession of military style firearms and one charge of receiving stolen firearms. Further charges are likely.
Police also recovered a large amount of ammunition.
Both men live out of the Dunedin area and are affiliated to gangs, police say.
