The driver of a vehicle which crashed into Otago Harbour near Portobello this afternoon, has escaped without serious injury.
A police spokeswoman said the vehicle left Harington Point Rd, near Weir St, about 1.40pm.
The driver was treated at the scene.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, and the vehicle is still to be removed from the harbour.

I thought the new road would improve this but that's about 3 in 3 weeks. Can't blame the tourists either.

I'm surprised that there has been no mention of the car being pulled out of the harbour from the bottom of Howard St on Tuesday morning.
