A woman in a wheelchair was rescued from her house by firefighters yesterday, after her kitchen caught fire.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said appliances were called to Norwood St, in Dunedin, about 5pm.
The fire was caused by a pot left on the stove and, although it was minor, it had the potential to spread quickly, he said.
The woman was taken to Dunedin Hospital as a precaution.
