A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said crews from Roslyn and Lookout Point were called to the fire about 6.20am.
When they arrived they found a fire about 5m by 5m and helped extinguish it.
By 7.20am, the all-clear had been given and the scene was left in the hands of the contractor with a digger.
The cause of the fire was unclear, the spokesman said.
