It's simple to be safe on Facebook

Imagine going on Facebook and reading on somebody's status that they want to murder you.

Imagine being messaged insults.

Can you imagine this happening day after day?

Unfortunately this does happen.

Sadly, there are hundreds of people out there on the world of Facebook who experience this harassment - this cyber bullying.

It's one of the many issues that Facebook has.

Another issue which Facebook has is fake profiles.

This is a serious problem and has driven people to the point of suicide.

A 30-year-old woman decided it would be fun to pretend to be a 15-year-old girl on Facebook.

She chatted up at least seven different young men around the ages of 12-17.

She stole a picture from another girl off Facebook and used it as her profile picture, which deceived the boys into thinking she was a typical 15-year-old girl.

She pretended to be in relationships with all of them.

She would ring them and text them, and tell them she loved them.

Little did they know, she was an adult.

Eventually she broke up with some of the boys.

The boys were depressed and the parents were concerned.

A simple solution to all of this is to completely get rid of Facebook.

On the other hand, Facebook has advantages.

Many people have stated they find it much easier to keep in touch with families and friends.

It is so easy to use and anyone of any age can navigate their way around the site.

You can connect with anyone in any part of the world. You can email and chat to your friends for no cost. The only thing you pay for is the internet.

You can look at any of your friends' photos and their information, and you can put up your own information about yourself so friends and family can see what you've been up to.

It's also the perfect place to track down and add old friends that you haven't seen in ages.

And it has brought communication to a whole new level.

Although I do believe Facebook depression is a sad reality in the world, I think it all comes down to how we use the site.

It is all about common sense.

The simple solution to avoiding the issue of fake profiles is to set your profile and your information to private, which only enables your Facebook friends to view your information.

Also, if you are being cyber-bullied, remove that person as a friend, and make sure you tell somebody so the problem will get sorted.

You see?

It doesn't take much to be Facebook safe. It's simply knowing your boundaries with the people you interact with on Facebook.

If you follow these rules, you will be fine - and you'll soon realise Facebook is a positive thing and not a negative thing.
