The police dive squad has located the body of a diver missing in Whangaparaoa.
A group of five was diving at Matakatia Bay yesterday afternoon when one of the group, a man in his late 20s, failed to surface.
An extensive search by Police, Westpac Rescue, family and emergency services was unsuccessful.
At about 1pm today the police dive squad recovered the body of a male believed to be the missing diver, though his identity is yet to be confirmed.
Police extend their thoughts and condolences to family and friends.
