Liberty Templeman was found dead in Kerikeri
Fifteen-year-old Liberty Templeman's body was found near the Wairoa Stream in Kerikeri 15 days ago.
A large police team spent five days scouring the scene and interviewing locals before charging the boy with murder and indecent assault.
Police said that the pair had been friends and both attended Kerikeri High School before Liberty's family moved to Auckland.
The boy has been in the custody of Child Youth and Family since his arrest and will reappear in Kaikohe Youth Court today where police are expected to ask for a further remand.
More than 1000 mourners farewelled Liberty, known as Libby, at a funeral service in Kerikeri on November 8.
