Bus boss hit by own coach still serious

A Wellington bus company director who was hit by one of its own buses remains in serious condition in hospital.

NZ Bus director Tim Brown was hit when he stepped out in front of one of the company's Go Wellington buses on Willis Street in the central city on Thursday.

He suffered serious injuries after falling under the front wheels and part of the rear wheels

Mr Brown was taken to Wellington Hospital where he remained in intensive care, said a hospital spokesman.

The bus company was working with authorities to investigate the cause of the incident and has offered counselling to staff.

"All our thoughts and prayers are with Tim and his family at this time," said a statement from investment company Infratil, which owns NZ Bus.

Mr Brown was run over only metres away from where 40-year-old jogger Venessa Green was struck and killed by a bus last June.
