A man whose body was found at a Christchurch house on Thursday night died from stab wounds and other injuries, police say.
Three men have appeared in court accused of assaulting Timothy Constable and could face more serious charges when they return to court on Tuesday.
Police said today a homicide investigation was continuing today with scene-of crime-examinations and questioning of witnesses.
They said a post mortem examination of Mr Constable was completed last night.
"The deceased had stab wounds and other injuries which contributed to his death." Mr Constable was found dead at a house in Todd Avenue, Bishopdale, after police were called to a reported fight on Thursday.
Levi Michael James Coombs, 17, unemployed, Steven Wayne Bright, 25, and Adam Robert Gempton, 20, unemployed, appeared in Christchurch Diustrict Court yesterday charged with assaulting Mr Constable.
They were all remanded to reappear on Tuesday -- Coombs and Bright on bail, and Gempton in custody.
